What reactions of sodium hydroxide on human skin?

we need to find out what kind of reactions happen when a chemical base is put onto human skin for our chemistry class. This is to teach the kids in high school that these chemicals are as dangerous as anything else in a lab. If you or anyone else can find any pictures that will be also very helpful for them to see what will happen in they do not take the precautions when dealing with chemicals.

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is the active ingredient in drain cleaners and oven cleaners. This stuff reacts with (eats) organic materials. Emergency room staff can tell you about people who get this stuff on them and suffer severe burns.
