I got bit by one of these m'fers the other day. You may get lime disease. Do a google on Lime Disease.
Reply:It is likely to cause an abscess.
Some ticks also produce a venom, which has nasty effects. Try to remove it, if you can, without mashing it up much. If you cannot, get a Dr to remove it.

Reply:Even if you don't get a disease, you will get an infection. Get a doctor to make sure you get it all out. (Not fun, but better than the alternative. I've done it.)
